City
of Blacktown #1
introduces new uniform at the Aussie Championships
2008
Blacktown's
Grade 1 band has introduced significant uniform enhancements to
coincide with the band’s new sound and new creative
direction. Pipe Major Ainsley Hart is very happy with the
sound that the
band is putting out, partly as a result of a new set of MacCallum
chanters. He said “There is strong determination
within our ranks to project our fresh new image, and we
believe this
uniform change will turn
heads…” The new
uniform which includes a very smart grey short sleeved shirst and
matching socks, will at present be used only for Grade 1 competition
outings. Amongst other things, the Band's management
team thinks
it will give the balance of the band an additional reason to strive to
make it into the Grade 1 band.

Blacktown Pipe Band to
appear at The
Edinburgh Military
Tattoo, Sydney in February 2010
Due to
overwhelming popular demand, the
Edinburgh
Military Tattoo will return to Australia for performances at the Sydney
Football stadium in February 2010.
The new
production will be the biggest ever
seen
in the event’s six decade history.
The return
visit – which is exclusive to
Sydney – is produced by the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in
association with the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust and
supported by Events New South Wales. It follows the resounding success
of The Edinburgh Military Tattoo – A Salute to Australia in
2005.
Organisers of
the Edinburgh Military Tattoo
went
so far as to pronounce it “one of the very best Edinburgh
Military Tattoos ever staged.” The Tattoo, with
1500
performers, returns to Sydney next year as part of its 60th anniversary
celebrations.
The City of Blacktown Pipe Band is delighted to be
one of a handful of Australian Pipe Bands selected to appear at the
Tattoo and is looking forward to proudly representing the the Pipe Band
movement and the Western Sydney area in this major International
spectacle.

Ainsley
Hart appointed City of Blacktown
Pipe Major - March 2007
Ainsley Hart,
formerly the band's Pipe
Sergeant has been appointed to the important Pipe Major's post at
Blacktown following the surprise resignation of Barry Gray recently. In
a move which came as a surprise to some,
Barry decided to quit his positions as Band President and Pipe Major to
play with the Grade 4 Hawkesbury City Pipe Band thus ending a thirty
year association with The City of Blacktown Pipe Band.
Barry Gray
said: “Having had this position
thrust upon me some 22 years ago,
I must say that it has been a great relief to finally find someone to
take on the responsibility that comes with the position.”
“ I know that
[the band] will now move in another direction and I wish Ainsley and
Keith all the best in their endeavours.” “
